Chapter 2 - Building A Strong Vision That Serves As A Protective Shield

“As we continue, you’ll need a shield to protect your Vision—one that is crafted to withstand intense pressure. You are its primary protector.

I’m going to ask you to be ultra-vulnerable as you seek to discover and unveil your Vision. Are you courageous enough to put yourself in this position? You must dispel the notion that vulnerability, that feeling you are susceptible to attack, is a weakness. Entrepreneurs have a particularly difficult time with this concept, as they refuse to appear as anything less than all-powerful—even to themselves. You need to replace this feeling with the recognition that the process allows a discovery of your innermost desires about yourself and the world around you….”

Chapter 3 - Taming Vision Killers With A Bigger Vision

“So far, you’ve been spending most of the first week of the program as a Maker creating a Vision that is driven by passion and is intrinsic to your values. Thanks to your hard work, your budding Vision is starting to form a relationship with your business, in addition to its significance in your personal life.

In this chapter, you will discover how to make your Vision so strong that the Vision Killers won’t stand a chance in their attempts to derail you. Instead, you’ll learn how to win over and convert your them into becoming powerful defenders of your Vision. Sound impossible? Just wait….. “

Week 1

Chapter 4 - Disposing of Self-Sabotage

“To begin the second week, let’s identify and resolve any self-sabotaging habits—whether in plain sight, behind the scenes, or even lingering in thoughts—that can upend all the hard work you’ve accomplished so far. It becomes a fool’s errand to create your dream Vision Maker team and attempt to collaborate while limiting beliefs have manifested above or below the surface. And, yes, you must identify whether you are knowingly or unknowingly among the self-sabotaging culprits...” It's important to recognize these obstacles and find ways to overcome them in order to bring our vision to life.

Week 2

Chapter 5 - Conquering Limiting Beliefs

“Limiting belief: a state of mind about yourself that restricts you in some manner. A limiting belief reflects an inability to see beyond your own experiences and often causes a pattern of stagnation.
We’ve all been guilty at one time or another of consciously or subconsciously holding onto limiting beliefs…

It won’t work.
I’m not good at this.
I’ll never finish this project.
I don’t think I can take this concept any higher.
I don’t have the time to figure it out.

What have been your experiences with the outcomes of the phrases listed above? Were they helpful in terms of saving you time and/or or effort? Perhaps limiting thoughts such as the ones cited caused you to put less effort into an initiative because you didn’t see that they would make any difference one way or the other. Or maybe they led you to throw in the towel and drop the endeavor entirely, as you viewed resolving them as a waste of time. We form beliefs based not only on fears but also on results from our past experiences….”

Chapter 6 - Establishing The Effective Vision Maker Team

“In the first few days of the second week, we set out to overcome the obstacles that might block or limit your Vision. These could be internal or external; known or unknown. For the balance of this week, we’ll spend our time discussing the ways we find and attract the right team members. Once the team is established, I’ll show you how to lead them for maximum results to enable your Vision to become the best it can be.”

Chapter 7 - Evangelize The Vision To The World

“Welcome to Week III! I suspect that you, like Kat, have conceived an idea or even developed a full-blown Vision at one time or another yet never shared it outside a select group of people. Think back to that experience. Do you recall how you felt about the notion of sharing it? Relive that sensation for a moment. If you are feeling intense discomfort, I’m probably correct in assuming you didn’t press forward because you thought you might be judged, were afraid of how others might react, were uncertain of how to get it done, or lacked enough confidence in the Vision itself…”

Chapter 8 - Overcoming Initial Objections

“Mark my words: For all your team’s brilliant Vision-Making efforts during these first few weeks, you are still likely going to be hammered by objections from all sides. Some left-brain individuals who want proof supported by data will likely question the logic and validity behind the Vision and fire shots at it. The “doers” involved in processes will pose challenging questions, doubting the organization’s ability to execute on the Vision; some going as far as saying “It’s impossible” and “It’ll never happen.” These naysayers believe what they are saying with heart and soul; they can’t help venting their true feelings, as they don’t want to disappoint leadership by not delivering on expectations or see the company fail. ..” In this chapter, we explore the importance of standing strong as Vision Makers, acknowledging and addressing objections strategically, and providing you with a set of responses to effectively navigate these objections.

Week 3

Chapter 9 - Converting Apathy To Advocacy

“Who cares? How does this affect me? Why is this my problem? What’s in it for me? Can’t you see I have more important things to do? Why are we spending precious time and resources on this?

Question: What do all the above questions have in common?
Answer: They are all apathetic phrases. Before we delve into combating apathy, we must first define it and place the word in its proper context. The word itself means “general disinterest” or “a lack of concern.” When you are apathetic about something, you don’t care to be involved or have any skin in the game regarding its outcome one way or the other…...”

Week 3

Chapter 10 - How To Sustain The Momentum

“If you are in this position as a leader, sometimes the best thing to do is forego making an entire presentation of the Vision during your equivalent of a “State of the Union.” You can tease about the Vision or provide a simple reminder and/or update but lace your presentation with details of extraordinary things the team accomplished. Remember: The Vision you created is bigger than you and your customer. Imagine sharing some video footage or photographs of the lives that have been impacted. It may feel like something of a letdown for you to not share your personal perspective, but the temporary disappointment will work in your favor in the long run.

Week 3

Chapter 11 - Charting the Next Evolution of Growth

“Most of our journey has been about creating your company Vision, your ethos, and, of course, your efforts to benefit your company. There is great satisfaction in building on a practical strategy, taking what exists and improving it, and deriving pleasure as you watch it come together and soar. Yet, despite all your excellent Vision Making, strategic planning, and goal execution, do you ever feel as if you somehow missed driving your business those three revolutionary steps forward that would have put you over the top? What could you possibly have overlooked or done differently?”

Chapter 12 - Changing The World

“At this stage, the questions you should be asking yourself about your Vision are whether it has the potential to create the legacy you desire, if you can you imagine it existing beyond your time on earth, and whether you are setting your sights high enough to make a favorable difference upon this world and positively impact as many people as possible. It’s not about financial reward, personal recognition, and achievement; those things are nice side fringe benefits and make you feel good in the now, while you are still living and breathing. What rewards you most in the end is the great joy and internal satisfaction of making a genuine difference. Sure, this phrase is said all the time, but now you have the opportunity and the understanding to make it happen. What sticks after you’ve left this world is what matters most and forms your true legacy…..”
